ello 2012!

someone recently asked me to reflect on the importance of exercise in my life, in particular the effect crossfit has had on me. i thought i'd write the answer down so i can reflect while i share...

working out is my favorite. not really. not always. but when it's fun, it is. sports and gymnastics and anything team-related make it exciting. being good and competing make it even better. seeing yourself improve make it rewarding and addicting. having people who care to cheer you on and teach you make it perfect.

that is what crossfit was for me. i found a fitness family that taught me the joy of crossfit. i hurt, i cried, i suffered through some long, painful workouts to the cheers of my friends. i learned to crave feeling stronger and faster and better than i was the day before.

when most of my cf friends went to other gyms or focused their training on more specific fitness feats, i took my own crossfit education on the road. i got level one certified to learn as much as possible and now i do what i can, when i can, with whomever will do it with me. i have preferred workouts or easier workouts or crazy workouts for different situations. i feel confident and comfortable in the "boys' gym" and i enjoy cheering others on and sharing what i've learned. i think i'll take some cf concepts with me forever: in every sport, workout, and probably life situation... (hey, 3,2,1 go is a great way to get going!)

what can it do for you?

it can make you happy! energized! stronger and faster than you ever imagined!! it seems too good to be true but believe me IT HURTS! ...and then it feels good. and you feel good.. inside and out!

try it! you will see!!

  1. I don't know how comfortable the boys feel with you in their gym ... I've seen their confidence kind of deteriorate when you weigh half what they do and put up double haha ... but it makes me smile. That's what crossfit did for me.... made me smile. But seriously glad you wrote this. The competitiveness and teamwork is a big plus I guess with crossfit in getting through something people might not have the determination to do on their own.
